1995 Japanese Season

At the start of the 1995 season, the Japanese champion Yomiuri Giants acquired power-hitting thirdbaseman Jack Howell, firstbaseman Katsumi Hirosawa, and Shane Mack.  With a plethora of power hitting, the team was expected to average five runs a game and win the pennant easily.  Much to everyone's surprise, the Giants finished a distant third as the Yakult Swallows cruised to the Central League pennant.  The Central League MVP award went to Tom O'Malley of the Swallows while the Giants' Masaki Saito won the Sawamura award.

In the Pacific League, the Orix BlueWave, led by Ichiro Suzuki, won the pennant easily.  MVP Ichiro led the Pacific League in batting, RBI, runs scored, hits, and stolen bases.  The Chiba Lottle Marines, however, were surprise of the year.  Skippered by Bobby Valentine, the perennial bottom dwellers finished in second place.  Valentine was helped by future Major League pitcher, Hideki Irabu, who led the league in ERA.  Despite Ichiro's presence, the BlueWave lost the Japan Series to the Swallows in just five games.

The 1995 Pacific League season for APBA was created by Grayden Dough and is available for downloading at APBA.zip.  Bill Stevens has added the Central League to the data disk.  The full 1995 season is available for downloading below.
