1967 Japan Series
Yomiuri Giants vs Hankyu Braves
|
The Giants stunned the Braves by winning the first three games, highlighted by a great 1-0 pitching duel between Tsuneo Horiuchi and Adachi in Game 2. The Braves came back to win the next two at the Giants' home Korakuen Stadium. Games 6, back at the Braves Nishinomiya Stadium, was a slugfest. But the Giants' 15 hits and 3 homeruns were too much for the Braves. The 9-3 final gave the Giants their third straight Japan Series title. Masahiko Mori, the Giants' catcher, was awarded the series MVP, Kunio Jonouchi, winner of 2 games for the Giants, was named Outstanding Pitcher, while the Outstanding Player award went to Daryl Spencer. |
